CanSat Albums

CanSat1 and the future CanSat2/ProtoSat are second generation learning models which are closer to the real satellite than the previous CricketSats. These satellites allow us to gain experience in designing our own telemetry systems.

The C.A.P.E. team spent most of Saturday, January 29, looking for CanSat1 after having launched it on a weather balloon earlier in the morning. As it turns out, the balloon landed in an impassable section of woods and creeks near the Mississippi River.

This album is of the first preflight test day for CanSat1. We used dry ice to cool the satellite for temperature testing.

This album is of the second set of preflight testing of CanSat1. Again, we used dry ice to cool the satellite to upper atmosphere temperatures. This time we increased the amount of dry ice and added fans for air circulation to obtain cooler temperatures and a more even temperature gradient.

PlexiSat Pictures

Plexisat is a working display model of CanSat1 encased in plexiglass. It was built to demonstrate the capabilities of CanSat1.
